Sony PXW-X200//U (PXWX200//U, PXW/X200//U, pxw-x200//u) Full HD Camcorder

In a nutshell
The Sony PXW-X200 XDCAM has some truly fantastic features to shout about. Its 3 1/2-type Exmor CMOS sensors provide high resolution, high sensitivity, low noise and a wide dynamic range. Multi-format recordings include XAVA full HD, XAVC intra/long GOP, along with MPEG HD 422 50 Mbps, MPEG IMX and DV.

When it comes to wireless operation, the Sony PXW-X200 XDCAM really excels, offering remote control, file transfer, monitoring via smartphone and tablet devices.

Equipped with the very capable 17x Fujinon professional HD zoom lens, it has the ability to zoom to the equivalent of 29.3mm-499mm on a full frame sensor. Thanks to its three independent control rings with end-stop and the 1/2-inch type lens (which allows manual focus control, zoom and iris), the Sony PXW-X200 XDCAM promises improved and faster adjustment.

In the hands
The camera itself is solid in-hand and nicely balanced, making it simple to operate and seamless to work with. Crucially, this ease-of-use allows you to make the most of all its features. The Sony PXW-X200’s body weighs approximately 2.4KG, and approximately 2.8KG when loaded up with lens hood, eyecup, BP-U30 battery, and SxS memory card.

Ideal for
With the Sony PXW-X200 XD CAM you get full HD XAVC intra/long GOP recordings along with MPEG HD 422 50 Mbps. These formats combined with the PXW-X200’s fantastic image reproduction provide outstanding picture quality, ideal for documentaries and newsgathering. As an added bonus, this model is widely respected and accepted by major broadcasters worldwide.

Feature you need to know about
With the superb 3 1/2-inch type Exmore full HD CMOS sensors, the PXW-X200 delivers high sensitivity, capable of F12 at 1080/59.94i and F13 at 1080/50i, a must have for professional shoots under challenging light. In addition to this, the Sony PXW-X200 comes equipped with a three position ND filter: offering clear, 1/8 and 1/64 settings.

The Sony PXW-X200 dual SxS memory card slots are included for simultaneous recordings, ‘Simul’ or ‘Relay’ options. The camcorder is compatible with SxS PRO+ and SxS-1 memory cards, and with an appropriate card adapter XQD, SDXC and SDHC cards can be used too. The Sony PXW-X200 also offers a picture profile function, which allows settings that have been saved on an SxS card to then be shared with other PXW-X200 camcorders.

Other features not to be missed include cache recordings along with a slow and quick motion function. In addition, the large easy-to-read 3.5-inch-type QHD (960x540) colour LCD panel helps users to ensure accurate focus control, and GPS data can automatically be recorded in two file locations*.

Finally, catalyst browse software from Sony is a free clip management tool available for both Mac and PC that will support all Sony professional formats. The software helps with colour corrections, footage on location and the adding of metadata.
