Sony DSR-250P - With 2 Yr Sony Silver Support. With the DSR-250P, a wide range of features and functions enables you to capture the professional images you require. The lightweight, shoulder-mount design, 1.5-inch B/W viewfinder and familiar control placement make operating the DSR-250P a pleasure. A variety of additional features, including a swing-out 2.5-inch LCD monitor, Super SteadyShot motion compensation function, an i.LINK interface and Memory Stick support are incorporated, thus adding to the camcorder's versatility. Three newly developed 1/3-inch CCDs and a 12-times zoom lens capture sharp, clear images. The DSR-250P supports both standard and mini-size cassettes, as well as both DVCAM and DV recording and playback, providing even more flexibility to meet your individual shooting requirements.

DVCAM and DV recording
The DSR-250P allows you to record and playback in both DVCAM and DV (SP only) formats. Although DVCAM format is more reliable and durable than DV format for shooting and editing, DV format offers greater flexibility for distributing edited content. And, if you are ever caught without supplies of tape on hand, switching over to DV is a useful emergency measure because the DV(SP) format has longer recording time than DVCAM.

Superb image quality
The DSR-250P features a newly designed 12x zoom lens (digital zoom of 24x and 48x is available via the menu system). Horizontal resolution of 530 TV lines � plus the facility for manual zoom, focus and iris adjustments � ensures exceptional picture clarity and sharpness.

Unsteady pictures optically corrected
Sony Super SteadyShot� is built in to the DSR-250P! This feature detects and compensates for both horizontal and vertical movements, so your picture remains completely steady.

Compatibility with most professional accessories
To optimise convenience and ease of use, the DSR-250P is designed to be fully compatible with many professional accessories.

• The DXF-801 high-resolution 1.5- inch viewfinder, which is found also in the Sony high-end DVCAM range, is supplied as standard.

• The video light connector enables you to connect external equipment (such as the Anton Bouer Ultralight2) and control light on/off automatically with the recording status.

• The XLR microphone connectors with phantom power for professional-quality microphones.

• Extend recording time to a maximum of nine hours with the BP-L90 Lithium-ion battery.

The DSR-250P accommodates both standard and mini-size cassette tapes, which allows you flexibility not only in cassette size but also in format (DVCAM or DV).

New 3-CCD camera system
Three 1/3-inch CCDs with 450,000 pixels (effective 400,000 pixels) each contribute to the high sensitivity, good signal-to-noise ratio, and refuced smear of the DSR-250P.

Optical type Super SteadyShot�
Sensors in the Super SteadyShot� system detect both horizontal and vertical movement of the camera while an active prism, located in front of the lens, optically compensates for any unsteadiness.

1.5-inch black-and-white viewfinder (DXF-801CE)
The DSR-250P comes with the same 1.5-inch black-and-white CRT viewfinder (DXR-801CE) that was originally designed for Sony high-end cameras. This lightweight viewfinder, with its high resolution, lets you focus manually to optimise picture clarity.

i.LINK interface for digital editing
The built-in i.LINK interface allows you to attach a VCR and then use the camera as an editor in playback mode to an accuracy of five frames. You can also use the i.LINK interface to record directly to the VCR.

Added functionality with Memory Stick�
Use your DSR-250P to take still photos with a Sony Memory Stick�, which can store up to 988 images. With Memory Mix, you can also combine still images stored on the Memory Stick� with video images.

Swing-out LCD monitor
The DSR-250 has a high-resolution, swing-out colour monitor that can be used during both recording and playback. It�s also easier to use the on-screen menu system with the large-sized LCD screen.
