  Description

Sony DSR-70AP - With 2 Yr Sony Silver Support. For maximum playback flexibility, the DSR-70AP accepts digital tapes in DV (SP mode), DVCAM and DVCPRO format. These can be quickly inserted, recognised and played without additional menu selections or a special mechanical adaptor.

Compact, All-in-one package
The DSR-70AP is a highly portable and mobile editing recorder which is ideal for field applications. The compact body of the DSR-70AP incorporates a 6.4-inch VGA LCD monitor, a full cut-editing controller with a Jog/Shuttle dial and an audio speaker. Easy to carry anywhere by hand, the DSR-70AP plays an important role in field acquisition and editing where quick operation and high mobility are priorities.

Flexible power supply
The DSR-70AP operates on 12V battery power using BP-L40A/60A/90A lithium-ion batteries which provide high capacity in a compact size. For example, with a fully charged BP-L90A, the DSR-70AP records for approximately 120 minutes with its LCD monitor fully functioning (without options).
AC power operation is also available. The AC-DN2B AC power supply unit has the important advantage of being able to supply the power for two DSR-70AP's or a DSR-70AP and DNW-A25 docked together.

Double Deck Editor
By docking two DSR-70AP's together, a fully featured cuts only editing system for mobile applications is created. The configuration provides VTR-to-VTR editing with Jog/Shuttle dial operation. The DSR-70AP can also be combined with a DNW-A25P Betacam SX portable editing recorder, allowing DVCAM-to-Betacam SX format editing and vice versa. Not only Betacam SX-to-DVCAM format editing, but Betacam SP-to-DVCAM format editing is also available because of the analogue playback capability of the DNW-A25P. This gives you the flexibility to use the ideal format for your application.

Flexible editing functions
Whichever tape format you choose, all editing functions – such as digital slow motion, jog audio and DMC – remain available. The DSR-70AP, unlike other digital video recorders, does not require you to dub up to a higher capability tape format.

Versatile interface options
Configure your ideal video editing solution from a range of optional analog and digital interface boards. Depending on the type and number of boards you use, the DSR-70AP will serve as a compact, high-performance professional editing VTR.

Easy to locate target point
The DSR-70AP incorporates a built-in Jog/Shuttle dial in its front panel, which enables highly responsive operation giving a great convenience in searching desired editing points.

Choice of aspect ratio
You can be the judge of whether wide-aspect production is appropriate – and add or remove it accordingly.

Reduced video degradation
To reduce annoying colour degradation common to many conventional VTRs, the DSR-70AP employs a newly developed algorithm filter. As far as source materials come from DV/DVCAM in acquisition, DSR-70AP minimises colour blurring from (4:2:0).

Easy-to-make pre-striped tapes
Even before you start editing, you can make pre-striped tapes using the DSR-70AP's internal signal generator. The indicator can generate a full-field colour bar or black burst for video and a 1kHz tone or silent signal for audio.
Features
Playback capability of DV (25 Mb/s) Format recorded tapes
The DSR-70AP provides you with maximum flexibility in any video-editing environment. Instant compatibility with DV, DVCAM and DVPRO-format digital tapes means you can play back from a range of sources without mechanical adaptors or on-screen menu adjustments.

Excellent Digital Slow Motion
The DSR-70AP boasts excellent noiseless slow motion within the range of –0.5 to +0.5 times normal playback speed, in increments of 1%, making it easy to designate editing points. This range is effective for all DV formats (25Mbps) that are acceptable on the DSR-70AP.

Excellent Digital Jog Sound
The DSR-70AP offers excellently smooth and clear performance of jog sound within the provided range of –0.5 to +0.5 times normal playback speed, just like we have experienced in analogue VTR. This allows easier decision of editing points when listening to the audible jog sound. Especially relevant in ENG applications that often rely on jog audio for editing. This excellence is effective for all DV family formats(25 Mbps) the DSR-70AP accepts.

VTR-to-VTR Editing with Jog/Shuttle Dial
The DSR-70AP incorporates a built-in Jog/Shuttle dial in its front panel, which allows direct two machine editing (without remote controller) to make cut editing more convenient.

DMC (Dynamic Motion Control)
Equipped with the DMC function, the DSR-70AP allows the playback speed of a specific section of tape to be varied over the range of -0.5 to +0.5 times normal speed. These speed variations the start and end points of the tape section are stored for later playback. This feature can also be used with other DV (25Mb/s) format recorded tapes like consumer DV (SP mode) and DVCPRO.

16:9 aspect ratio capability
The DSR-70AP has the capability of recording and playing back the 16:9 aspect ratio pictures shot by DXC-D35WSP + DSR-1P or the DSR-500WSP. This is achieved bt receiving a wide aspect ID pulse signal, as video auxiliary data, which indicates that the picture is shot in the 16:9 aspect ratio.

Vertical Interval Time Code (VITC)
The DSR-70AP supports not only Time Code in sub code area on a tape but also Vertical Interval Time Code (VITC) through all video signal interfaces. When receiving video signal with the VITC, the DSR-70AP reads and records (when optional input boards are installed.) it in video auxiliary data area. The VITC is output by being inserted on video signal. Also, the Time Code in sub code area can be output as the VITC. By using VITC copying of both video signal and TC (Time Code or VITC) with just a single BNC cable via composite or SDI is possible. It also allows users to record other time code data in video auxiliary data area in addition to the Time Code, which is helpful especially for off-line editing.

Internal Signal Generator
The DSR-70AP incorporates an internal signal generator. The indicator generates Colour bar (Full-field, 100% / 75%), or Black burst for video and 1kHz, or No sound for audio. This function is convenient for making a pre-striped tape before editing.

Edit List Memory
The DSR-70AP memorizes the last 10 editing points as edit list. These data can be recalled and used for changing the editing points (re-editing).

Two-camera, switched recording
The DSR-70AP introduces a unique feature to field recording. With the optional DSBK-180 Dual Video Input Board, two cameras can be connected and the output of either one selected for the recording. The DSR-70AP displays both camera images on its LCD screen using a picture-in-picture mode. The TRIM buttons on the key panel of the DSR-70AP are used to select which camera output is recorded.
This feature greatly contributes to event and wedding videography, video journalism etc. with a minimum system and smaller crew.

Sequential Recording
In the double deck configuration (DSR-70AP/DSR-70AP of DSR-70AP/DNW-A25), sequential recording without a break is available by using each deck alternately. When the tape remaining time of the recorder reaches two minutes, the player automatically starts recording to achieve sequential recording. With two DSR-70AP VTRs, up to six hours of recording can be obtained. This is very convenient for those applications which require a recording time of over three hours such as concerts, ceremonies or medical operations for example.

Parallel-Run Recording
The DSR-70AP has a unique parallel-run recording function, which is extremely useful when two video signals must be recorded simultaneously to two decks with their time codes synchronized. Through a simple time code In/Out and RS-422A connection, parallel control (Rec, Play, Stop, Shuttle etc) of two combined DSR-70AP's is possible. Either DSR-70AP can be designated as the controller. The time code connection ensures synchronized time code between the two DSR-70AP's, making this function ideal for multi-camera recording and sync roll editing.
