Full Manual Control
DESCRIPTION:
Sony’s very impressive DSR-PD177P is the latest addition to their acclaimed DVCAM lineup. The compact, ergonomic design and advanced technology makes it great pro camcorder for a range of tasks such as video journalism and documentary making.
The DSR-PD177P is equipped with a 1/3 Inch-type 3 ClearVid CMOS sensor system to deliver first-rate image quality. The sensor’s Exmor technology features dual noise-cancelling methods and Multiple A/D (analogue to digital) converters on each pixel row to convert analogue signals to digital as soon as they are generated. This helps to produce sharper images with higher resolution and less noise, even when shooting in very low light. Plus the technology provides a low light sensitivity of just 1.5 lux (At 1/25 shutter, auto iris and auto gain).
You can record high-quality SD video on to either DVCAM or DV and choose to record interlaced or progressive (25p) This flexibility makes the DSR-PD177P ideal for a range of tasks.
This class-leading camcorder features a precision 29.5mm wide angle G Lens with 20x optical zoom. It’s ideal for everything from landscape to close-up shots. The lens features two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements that help to reduce the chromatic aberrations and so minimise colour fringing. Plus the advanced 10-group, 15-element lens structure also includes three compound aspheric lenses to ensure crisp and clear video, even when shooting at a high zooming ratio. A high-speed zoom mode is also available that uses a digital extender system to increase the zoom ratio to approximately 30x – Perfect for capturing that distant subject.
The DSR-PD177P boasts a 3.2-inch widescreen XtraFineTM LCD panel with an incredibly high resolution of approximately 921,000 pixels. The clear, bright and detailed display makes it far easier to precisely adjust focus, plus it shows virtually 100% of the recorded frame. THE PD177P also features a 0.45-inch-type XtraFine Electronic View Finder with approximately 1,227,000 pixels and three independent LEDs for red, green and blue colours.
The camcorder’s ergonomic design features zoom, focus and iris control rings for precise, one handed control. The iris ring can be set to control iris or aperture and three ND (Neutral Density) filters (1/4, 1/16 and 1/64) help to vary the depth of field control. You can also control zoom via the lens grip or a lever on the camera handle.
The PD177P features six different picture set-ups, including gamma and colour settings. These can be registered in the memory as a Picture Profile, helping you to keep consistency between takes and handy for multi-camera shoots.
There are dual XLR audio inputs giving you the option to connect professional microphones and add equally as impressive audio to your video. There is also a clip-type microphone holder for connecting shotgun microphones
Smooth slow-motion playback is also available where you can capture images 4x faster than normal (200 fields/s). These quad-speed images are captured for six seconds and then stored in the built-in buffer memory. The footage is then recorded to tape as slow-motion video lasting 24 seconds.
The versatile DSR-PD177P supports HYBRID DVCAM/DV operation. Connect a compatible Memory Recording Unit (sold separately) via the i.LINK connection and you can simultaneously record video footage to both a tape and a memory card – A great way to backup footage.
