A new addition to the DVCAM camcorder family, the Sony DSR-PDX10P with its 3-CCD Mega Pixel CCD provides superb picture quality in both 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios.

Reliability thanks to DVCAM / DV recording mode
DSR-PDX10P adopts the DVCAM format to offer superior video and audio quality, and reliability for professional use. It adopts the audio lock mode for professional audio editing. At the same time, it is capable of recording and playing back DV format (SP mode only). DV format recording is useful when the user needs as long a recording time as possible.
Professional time code management
In DVCAM mode, timecode can be preset. The time code mode can be selected from rec-run or free-run. Free run is useful for running with other equipment giving approximately the same timecode between all equipment. User bits can be preset as well.
Superior 16:9 picture quality
Thanks to the Mega Pixel technology and a new way to manage the capture, the DSR-PDX10P offers a similar high resolution in both 4:3 and 16:9 modes. In a world where demand is increasing for DVD material recorded in 16:9 format the DSR-PDX10P will offer the best performance.
"Anycast" ready
Using Oplayo Composer Pro Lite, the DSR-PDX10P can create streaming content for virtually any web-enabled device. This includes mobile phones, PDAs, PCs and Macs.
Flexible 246,000 pixel, LCD monitor with touch panel function
DSR-PDX10P has a convenient high-resolution LCD color monitor for monitoring the recording picture, or checking playback picture on the scene. It is also useful for setting menu items, adjusting audio levels or for monitoring the camera status including audio meter.
Touch panel operation assists operation:-
Spot focus: To adjust the focus, just touch the part of the picture to focus on.
Spot AE: To adjust the exposure, again just touch the part of the picture on which to centre AE function.
Playback Zoom: During playback touch the part of the picture on which to achieve x2 zoom.
Memory Play: Touch screen playback of pictures on the Memory Stick.
Index play: To display 6 pictures at one time.
Slide show: To playback still pictures in sequence.
Memory Mix: The image in the Memory Stick and the camera image can be combined.
Newly Developed Mega Pixel 1/4.7-inch Type 3-CCD Camera System
The DSR-PDX10 incorporates three 1/4.7-inch type Advanced HAD CCD chips, each with a total of 1,070,000 pixels. (690,000 effective pixels for video acquisition in 4:3 mode, and 1,000,000 pixels for still-image capture).
14-bit DXP (Digital Extended Processor)
The 14-bit digital processing drastically reduces the noise commonly seen across dark areas of a picture. This precision of digital processing also contributes to expanding the dynamic range of the camera so that both dark and light areas of a picture are reproduced with more contrast, thus reducing the wash-out effect.
Advanced HAD CCD Technology
The DSR-PDX10 incorporates the new Advanced HAD CCD technology. This is another key to reproducing high-quality pictures with reduced noise, even in dark environments and with dark subjects
Optical Super SteadyShot Function
The DSR-PDX10P employs the Super SteadyShot system in which the horizontal and vertical movements during camera work are detected independently by the sensors. The active lens adjusts and optically compensates for unsteadiness, while maintaining image quality
Switchable 4:3 and 16:9 Recording Modes
The DSR-PDX10P captures images in both 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios. This function is easily selected from the menu.
Precision 16:9 Technology and Wider Angle of View in 16:9 Mode
A sufficient amount of pixels are used to reproduce high resolution pictures in the 16:9 aspect ratio. The Mega Pixel CCD enables an even wider angle of view in the 16:9 mode
2ch XLR Audio Adaptor and supplied monaural microphone
The supplied XLR Audio Adaptor has 2 channels of XLR audio input connectors (balanced input). Input level can be selected from the Mic/Line/Mic Attenuator switch. Phantom +48V DC power can be supplied. A low cut filter can be chosen for each channel. By this, DSR-PDX10P can be connected to a variety of professional microphones and/or can handle professional audio signals.
USB terminal with USB Streaming function
USB terminal is incorporated for transmission of still and moving pictures to PC
This USB Streaming function is effective not only for direct camera output but also for playback from recorded tape or MPEG Movie file on Memory stick.
This function is useful for creating a simple outside broadcasting system with a PC.
0.44inch, 180,000 pixel B&W Precision LCD Viewfinder
The viewfinder is a 0.44inch black and white precision LCD, which gives 500 lines of horizontal resolution. This is more than 20% higher than current colour viewfinders, making manual focusing easier. There is a tally lamp (red LED) in the viewfinder to check when recording is taking place.
Zebra pattern
In the viewfinder, or on the LCD monitor, zebra pattern can be displayed to find out which area of the image might be saturated. It is switchable between 100%, 70% and OFF.
MPEG Movie Recording
Moving pictures and audio can be recorded onto the Memory Stick in MPEG-1 format.
The image size can be chosen from Presentation mode (320 x 240) or Video Mail mode (160 x 112). Up to 85 minutes of recording is available on a 128 MB Memory Stick in the Video Mail mode. Either the camera output or tape playback pictures can be converted to MPEG-1 format and recorded to the Memory Stick.
Still-Picture Recording (Progressive Shutter System)
The DSR-PDX10P incorporates a digital-still camera function. Thanks to the Mega Pixel CCDs, still pictures with Mega Pixel quality can be recorded to the Memory Stick. The image size can be 640 x 480 (VGA) or 1152 x 864, and the picture quality can be selected from Superfine, Fine or Standard modes. Up to 1,978 images at 640 x 480 size, or up to 608 images at 1152 x 864 size can be recorded on an optional 128 MB type Memory Stick in Standard mode. Still images can also be recorded onto DVCAM/DV tape when in the Tape Photo mode.
