JVC GY-HM750CHE ProHD Camcorder w/o Lens
The GY-HM750 replaces the GY-HM700.
The GY-HM750 is JVC's latest addition to the ProHD range. The HM750 is the perfect acquisition tool offering a choice of SD or HD recording onto inexpensive SDHC media. The HM750 offers the same SD recording functionality as the GY-HM790 at a more competitive price point with a number of extra features incorporated as a direct result of customer feedback.
Key Features:
- New encoding engine with SD and HD capability
- Concurrent recording on both SDHC media in the camera
- Direct Dock System to attach various accessories
- New KA-AS790 ASI option for direct transmission over satellite and RF links
- New easier to use menu structure and design
- Automatic selection of Colour Matrices for HD (ITU-R) and SD (EBU)
- Increased Pre-Rec buffer allowing 20s of footage to be recorded before trigger
One new feature is the capability to record identical files simultaneously onto both SDHC cards. Having an instant backup gives the camera operator the extra level of confidence needed for those special once-in-a-lifetime shots that can not be repeated. Additionally the optional KA-MR100G recording unit can be connected to the Direct Dock System to make a third recording on an SxS card with up to 64GB capacity.
Another feature to help secure that important shot is the "Pre-Rec Buffer". With this activated the camera will continuously record a loop of footage; once the record trigger is activated the footage from the loop will be added to the beginning of the main recording. Earlier models only offer the operator a 3s loop but the GY-HM750 can record up to 20s of footage before the actual record trigger. This makes it easier to capture shots that are difficult to time, a situation often found while recording wildlife.
HD is generally the preferred acquisition and production format for many users however some situations may require direct recording to industry standard DV encoded SD files. In response to customer feedback the GY-HM750 has been built to allow direct recording of 25mbps DV encoded signals on affordable SDHC media. The standard definition recording system supports both 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios. Following the philosophy of direct file access introduced with the GY-HM700 series, the SD recordings of the GY-HM750 can be saved as QuickTime files directly compatible with Apple’s Final Cut or as AVI files compatible with many other popular NLE systems.
In addition to the SD recording capability the GY-HM750 allows the user to choose from the same rich variety of HD resolutions, frame rates and file formats as the previous HM series models. This includes full HD 1920x1080 HQ recordings at 35 Mbps and the popular 720p HQ recording capability with over- and under cranking. Frame rates of 60, 50, 30, 25 and 24 frames per second allow the user to choose the ideal setting for any project from sports acquisition to cinematography.
Like all JVC GY-HM700 series cameras the GY-HM750 will automatically select the appropriate HD or SD colour matrix depending on the chosen production format. This makes it easier to use the camera
in a variety of applications and to match it to other cameras in a studio or EFP production environment regardless whether HD or SD is being used for shooting the footage. In summary what this means is the following:
a) In HD it generates colours that follow the matrix definition of ITU-R BT.709
b) In SD it generates colours that follow the matrix definition of the EBU
The GY-HM750CHE camera comes standard with a high resolution LCOS colour viewfinder and microphone. For even more flexibility additional accessories are available that expand the range of applications for this camera further, a typical example is the VF-HP790 8.4” studio viewfinder that was originally developed for the GY-HM790 which can also be used with the GY-HM750. This Studio Viewfinder in combination with the KA-790 studio sled allows operators to use the camera in simple field production (EFP) scenarios with tripod and lens remotes.
