Maximize the creative potential of your VENICE camera by adding the Sony Rialto Camera Extension System 2. Compatible with the VENICE, VENICE 2 6K, and VENICE 2 8K, the Rialto Extension System 2 allows you to detach the sensor block and lens from the main camera body, providing increased mobility without any loss in full-frame image quality. Designed for handheld and gimbal setups, jib, crane, and car rigs, this lightweight and compact system also enables shooting in previously inaccessible tight spaces. The updated 9.8' and 39' tethering cable options facilitate wide-bandwidth sensor data transmission over longer distances than the original Rialto system.

New Features

The Rialto Extension System 2 includes a built-in gyro sensor (for VENICE 2 only) that transmits tilt and roll metadata through the SDI output, ideal for visual effects applications. Additionally, it has four user-assignable buttons (one assignable button for VENICE) for easy access to essential camera functions like run/stop and ND filter adjustment. Weighing approximately 4.6 lb, the Extension System 2 retains the same compact size as the original, measuring 6.2 x 5.8 x 5 inches.

Firmware Requirements

To operate the Extension System 2, VENICE 2 firmware v.2.00 and VENICE firmware v.6.3 are required and were made available in early 2023.

Maintains Image Quality

The Extension System 2 preserves VENICE’s renowned image quality, even when using the new 9.8' or extended 39' tethering cables.

Enhanced Mobility

Separating the sensor block from the camera body by up to 39 feet provides significant flexibility for setups involving gimbals, jibs, cranes, handheld rigs, and custom installations such as 3D/VR or helicopter and underwater housings. This setup allows easier operation in confined spaces, such as inside vehicles, with the sensor block weighing just 4.6 lb when equipped with a PL mount.

Integrated Gyro Sensor

For visual effects applications, the Extension System 2’s internal gyro sensor records tilt and roll information in the metadata, outputting this data through the camera’s SDI port for VENICE 2 models.

User-Assignable Function Buttons

The Extension System 2 offers four user-assignable buttons for VENICE 2 8K and 6K models, and one assignable button for the VENICE. These buttons provide quick access to key camera functions, including run/stop and ND filter selection, enhancing the ease of operation during complex shoots.
