Follow focus is a camera focus control mechanism which is used with camcorders when shooting video for all kinds of purposes. It is not a necessary bit of kit; instead it is there to allow the camera operator to be more precise and efficient and to have their hands in a more comfortable position while shooting and adjusting focus.
The systems work through a set of gears which are attached to teeth on the camera lens’ focus ring. This set of gears is then attached to a wheel which, when turned, spins the wheel and therefore changes the focus on the camera.
