The Sony VENICE 2 8K Digital Motion Picture Camera elevates high-resolution capture for filmmakers, offering stunning 16-stop dynamic range, internal recording up to ProRes 4K 4444 and 422, and an interchangeable sensor design. With improvements in usability and body design, it enhances workflows for DPs, camera assistants, colorists, VR specialists, and VFX departments, delivering film-like imagery and exceptional post-production flexibility.

Exceptional Imagery in Any Lighting

The VENICE 2's wide dynamic range enables capturing beautiful images in extreme lighting conditions, from low-light scenes to bright sunlight. Its dual native ISO (800 and 3200) further extends creative lighting possibilities.

8.6K Sensor & Dual ISO

The new 8.6K sensor improves image flexibility for post-production, while maintaining compatibility with the original 6K sensor. You can even swap the 6K sensor block (sold separately) into the VENICE 2, allowing for higher frame rates than the 8.6K sensor supports. The camera recognizes different sensor blocks and adjusts automatically without firmware changes.

Lens Mount Options

The VENICE 2 comes with a PL lens mount, compatible with Super35 and full-frame PL lenses, both spherical and anamorphic. The PL mount supports Cooke /i technology for frame-by-frame metadata. Removing the PL mount exposes the E-mount, designed with a lever-lock system for quick and secure lens changes. A future firmware update will fully enable E-mount functionality.

Built-in ND Filters

The VENICE 2 features an 8-step, servo-controlled ND filter mechanism, providing a range from clear (no ND) to 2.4 ND (8 stops). This flexibility allows for quick exposure adjustments in changing lighting environments.

Servo Control & Remote Options

Servo control enhances the VENICE 2’s use in remote setups, such as drones or underwater housings. For extreme scenarios, the optional Rialto 2 system allows you to detach the sensor block from the camera body by up to 39 feet. The camera’s smaller body size compared to the original VENICE also makes it more adaptable for drones.

Internal Recording & Media

Ditch the need for external recorders—the VENICE 2 records directly onto AXS cards via its dual card slots, supporting X-OCN and 4K ProRes formats with relay recording for extended shooting. Cache recording is also supported, with twice the cache memory of the original VENICE.

Super35 Support

The VENICE 2’s 8K sensor allows for 5.8K recording in Super35 17:9 and 16:9 modes, enabling the use of Super35 PL-mount lenses without compromising image quality.

Color Gamut & Grading

The VENICE 2 exceeds the BT.2020 color space and offers a wider gamut than DCI-P3, providing a vibrant color palette for grading. With support for S-Log3 and S-Gamut3 workflows, the camera ensures an excellent match between its 6K and 8K sensors.

Minimized Rolling Shutter

Thanks to the high-speed readout of the 8.6K sensor, the VENICE 2 minimizes the rolling shutter (Jello) effect typical in CMOS sensors, ensuring cleaner, more natural motion capture.

• Remote Control via RM/RCP: Enables color and paint adjustments, including ITU-R Rec. 2020 and HLG settings.
