The HKC-T1500 "split" adapter for the HDC1500 and HDC1550 multi-format high-definition cameras increases the flexibility of Sony's multi-format high-definition cameras, by allowing the image sensor assembly to be physically separated from the camera body, using up to 50 metres of multicore cable. This results in a very compact imaging assembly which may be hand held, or located to provide unique "point of view" shots. Designed for the HDC-1500 and HDC-1550 models, it supports 1080/50p operation as well as colour viewfinders such as Sony's new HDVF-C35W.

The HDC1500 and HDC1550 (triax interface) portable cameras feature high-performance 2.2-megapixel 1920x1080 progressive scan CCDs, which provide enhanced image quality and stability. This CCD technology combines native 1080/60P image acquisition with a newly developed video image processor, utilizing the latest 0.11um semiconductor technology.

The new cameras operate across the entire spectrum of HD standards including:

• Interlace 1080i mode @1080/59.94i, 50i
• Progressive 1080P mode @1080/23.98p, 29.97p, 24p, 25p, 50p*, 60p*
• Progressive 720P mode @720/59.94p, 50P
• * Camera head output only via dual link.

Compact Imaging Assembly

• When the CCD block is fitted to the split adaptor, it provides a very compact unit, ideal for shooting in tight spaces, such as in a car, or for use on a motorbike. It may be hand held, or fitted to any traditional camera mounts.

Light Weight

• The imaging assembly is also ideal where weight is critical, such as for prolonged hand-held shooting.

Maximum Performance

• The HDC-1500 retains full performance when used in the split adaptor, giving much higher resolution than can be obtained from other dedicated compact cameras.

Quick Conversion between modes

• The HDC-1500 optical assembly can be quickly converted between normal and "split" operation, avoiding the need for a specialist compact camera. The HKC-T1500 can be used with any HDC-1500 or 1550 camera head.

There is no limitation to the operating format when the camera is fitted to the HKC-T1500 - all the HD format standards are available
