The Sony HSC-100R Digital Triax Broadcast Camera is an HD/SD camera with a digital triax CCU input. Its triax system integrates seamlessly into existing triax-based infrastructures, allowing easy upgrades, and supports cable runs up to 3,937 ft to an optional CCU. The camera features a 2/3" CCD sensor with F10 sensitivity for 1080i59.94 and F11 for 1080i50, boasting a -60dB signal-to-noise ratio. It records in 720p, 1080PsF, and down-converts to high-quality SD. Optional HZC-PSF3 software is required for 1080/29.97PsF/25PsF recording. The camera is equipped with a Sony Bayonet lens mount and offers a wide range of inputs/outputs, including XLR audio, XLR mic, HD/SD-SDI output, VF signal, return signal, SDI prompter output, genlock input, return input, and XLR intercom. Additionally, it includes an electronic color correction filter and four built-in ND filters.

The camera’s 16-bit A/D converter processes images with high color precision, while the Digital Extender function enlarges the center of the image by a factor of two without decreasing sensitivity. Auto Lens Aberration Compensation 2 reduces chromatic aberration with horizontal and vertical compensation for supported lenses. The camera offers seven standard-gamma and four hyper-gamma tables for contrast adjustment, and the Multi-Matrix function allows for user-specified color adjustments. Adaptive-Matrix improves color conversion under challenging lighting, while Master White Gain enables precise, step-less gain level adjustments. Focus assist options include "Viewfinder Detail" and "Focus Assist Indicator" for easier focusing.

Built for durability, the camera’s chassis is made from magnesium-alloy casting, and the integrated shoulder pad is adjustable without tools. The handle is designed for stability, featuring a protrusion for added support and a non-slip structure for a better grip. Assignable switches are located on the side and rear panels, with additional assignable buttons on the handle.
