X-Rite XRIT280 (XRIT-280, XRIT/280, XRIT 280) ColorChecker Classic Nano

ColorChecker Nano:

For those extremely small or close up projects, the Nano version of the ColorChecker target provides a precision colour reference for the tightest or most close up shots. Measuring just 24 x 40mm, the Nano is the smallest target within the ColorChecker range and is an ideal tool for the following photographic scenarios and more –

  • Macro photography: extreme close-up photography, nature
  • Art photography; small art photography, stamps
  • Object photography; jewellery, coins, miniature objects

The Nano target is ideal for creating custom camera profiles (DNG and ICC), correcting neutral balance and exposure, and provides a standard for colour corrections.

What is a ColorChecker?

The ColorChecker target is an array of 24 scientifically formulated colours that has been the leading industry colour reference target for more than 40 years. It is designed to deliver true-to-life colour reproduction so that photographers and filmmakers can predict and control how colour will look under any illumination. Use the ColorChecker Nano to create custom camera and scanner profiles, colour grade video footage or use as a visual reference. Available in a variety of sizes.

Each of the 24 colours found on a ColorChecker target represents the actual colour of natural objects, such as human skin tone, foliage and blue sky, and reflects light just like its real-world counterpart. Since these colours exemplify the colour of their counterparts in the natural world and reflect light the same way in all parts of the visible spectrum, the squares will match the colours of representative samples of natural objects under any illumination, and with any colour reproduction process. Each solid patch is formulated individually to produce a pure, flat, rich colour.

Now even more powerful: Create both custom ICC and DNG camera profiles!

ColorChecker targets have been used by Colour perfectionists for the past decade to create custom DNG profiles for Adobe Lightroom® and Photoshop® workflows. Now you can also build custom ICC camera profiles for use in Capture One® (or other ICC compatible software) when you combine ColorChecker target with X-Rite ColorChecker Camera Calibration software. You’ll get accurate colour at capture based on specific lighting, camera and lens combination during any given shoot, saving valuable time in edit.

ColorChecker Classic is available in five sizes, from the smallest Nano to the largest MEGA so you will have the right size target for every type of shooting situation.

ColorChecker Classic Nano:

For those extremely small or close up projects, the Nano Version of the ColorChecker Classic with its 24mm x 40 mm size provides a precision colour reference for the tightest or most close up shots.

ColorChecker Classic Mini:

For when you need a colour reference target that takes up as little room as possible in the image area, the ColorChecker Classic Mini target is 1/8 of the size of the Classic standard.

ColorChecker Classic Standard:

This is the standard size of the ColorChecker Classic that has been an essential tool for demanding imagemakers for more than 40 years.

ColorChecker Classic XL:

This is a larger version of the ColorChecker classic for those shots taken at a greater distance like at an outdoor event, on a larger set or for drone photography.

ColorChecker Classic MEGA:

The MEGA version is for those applications that require the target to be a very long distance from the camera and still be able to be imaged with enough resolution to be useable for making corrections.

The ColorChecker Classic can be used for a variety of applications, including:

  • Digital Photography: Create custom camera profiles (DNG and ICC), correct neutral balance and exposure, and provide a standard for colour corrections
  • Film Photography: Visual reference for exposure, contrast and color
  • Filmmaking: Set exposure and colour in camera; match multiple cameras, colour grade log and raw footage, and fine-tune colour balance in post.
  • Graphic Arts: Check any printing or proofing process
  • Scanner Profiling: Create custom ICC scanner profiles with X-Rite’s i1Studio or i1Profiler software (sold separately)
  • Other industry applications

With more colour science experience than anyone in the industry, the Colour Checker Classic was truly created by Colour Perfectionists for Colour Perfectionists.
