Shogun Classic 7-inch 4K HDR HDMI/SDI Pro/Cinema Monitor-Recorder-Switcher

Apple ProRes and ProRes RAW recording and playback

Crafted for professionals who push the boundaries of video quality, this 7-inch screen enhances the visuals from any HDMI or SDI camera. With an impressive contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and peak brightness of 3000 nits, the Shogun Classic is the ultimate all-in-one tool for video production and creative storytelling.

The Shogun Classic supports high production standards with RAW and 4K HDR, giving you full control during production and post-production. Monitor every detail of SDR or HDR footage in real-time, and record up to 5.7K Apple ProRes RAW* or 4K Apple ProRes directly to affordable SSD drives, bypassing the high costs and limitations of SD memory cards. You can even shoot RAW at high frame rates up to HDp240**.

Additionally, with asynchronous multicamera switching and support for a variety of codecs, you’ll have unprecedented power to bring your creative vision to life.

Multicamera touchscreen switching

Live mix & record up to 5 streams

Leverage the power of 4 x SDI inputs with the Shogun Classic, transforming it into a portable, quad-view live switcher and recorder for your multicamera shoots. Capture up to four 1080p60 streams simultaneously as separate ISOs, and seamlessly cue and switch between them in real-time with a simple tap on the screen. The mixed output can be displayed live on set via HDMI or SDI, or even streamed live for online audiences. The asynchronous switching feature eliminates the need for expensive, locked camera sources, making it possible to use more budget-friendly cameras.

You can either view all streams at once in a quad-view layout or switch to a full-screen display of any of the four input streams. A simple tap on a stream in quad-view instantly switches to that feed, which becomes the program output. Each stream is recorded as a separate ISO with embedded audio in either Apple ProRes or Avid DNx, allowing for easy re-editing after the shoot.

All switching decisions are saved as metadata, with transition types embedded in an FCPX .xml file. Once filming wraps, importing your ISOs into your editing software will ensure all streams and transitions are perfectly aligned with synced audio and video.

Perfect exposure and colour

Fine tune every detail, while you shoot

A premium viewing experience allows you to make confident, informed decisions on set.

With the Shogun Classic’s dynamic zoned backlight, you'll enjoy deeper blacks, brighter whites, and crystal-clear highlight details. See every nuance of what your camera sensor captures with unmatched precision. Leverage advanced HDR waveform tools, whether you're working with log or RAW footage, to achieve perfect exposure, color accuracy, and white balance. Shogun Classic provides full control to optimize HDR exposure while ensuring you're ready for SDR finishing in post-production.

Intuitive monitoring tools put every aspect of the image at your fingertips. Customize 3D LUTs, apply false color profiles, adjust focus peaking, and zoom with movable 1:1 or 2:1 pixel magnification. For color accuracy, RGB parade and vectorscopes guarantee precise color reproduction on your calibrated monitor.

The Shogun Classic is at home on practically any camera

With its ProRes RAW recording capabilities, the Shogun Classic pairs seamlessly with industry powerhouses like the Canon C300 mkII, Panasonic EVA 1, and Sony FS5 II, delivering stunning images with maximum detail and post-production flexibility. It also revitalizes older models like the Sony FS700R, turning them into cinematic RAW shooting machines with advanced features like 4Kp60 and 2Kp240 RAW capture.

For DSLR or mirrorless cameras, connect via HDMI to unlock up to 4Kp60 recording in Apple ProRes or AVID DNx formats, ensuring easy editing and archival-quality footage. When paired with high-end cameras such as ARRI, RED, or Sony Venice, the Shogun Classic offers precise HDR monitoring and all the professional tools needed to get the job done efficiently.

Unlock the true potential of your camera

Preserve your sensor's pristine pixels in ProRes RAW at up to 5.7kp30, 4kp60 DCI/HD and 2kp240 DCI/HD

Amplify the creative advantages of shooting RAW

The Shogun Classic captures RAW data directly from the camera’s sensor, preserving the unprocessed image and giving you the flexibility to fine-tune every aspect of your video during post-production.

By applying ProRes compression to RAW image data, the Shogun Classic enhances your creative workflow. ProRes RAW files are more compact than most proprietary RAW formats, enabling faster and more efficient importing, editing, and grading. ProRes RAW is supported by major editing platforms such as Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere, and Avid Media Composer*.

In addition to ProRes RAW, the Shogun Classic offers a wide range of codec options, making it compatible with all major editing software. It records in Apple ProRes, Avid DNxHD and HR, and Adobe CinemaDNG, providing maximum versatility.

With support for virtually any HDMI, SDI, Dual, or Quad Link SDI source, the Shogun Classic opens up possibilities for both new and existing cameras. Atomos proudly supports industry-standard cameras from brands like Nikon, Canon, Panasonic, Sony, RED, Arri, and Z-CAM.

Dolby Vision

Give on-set HDR monitoring to your client and creatives

Experience your footage through your audience's eyes even before filming is complete with the Shogun Classic. It enables real-time content delivery via Dolby Vision live HDMI output from any HDR camera to a compatible Dolby Vision HDR TV or monitor. This ensures you see an accurate, high-brightness, full-color representation of your video while still on set.

By providing a precise reference, the Shogun Classic allows you to adjust exposure and lighting with confidence, optimizing your footage for modern HDR displays. This gives the crew greater assurance in what they’re capturing and accelerates the finishing process, streamlining your entire production workflow.

Easily tag your footage with metadata as you shoot, marking favorites, rejects, and more with just a few taps. Once you import your footage into your editing timeline, you can quickly filter and organize clips based on these tags, streamlining the post-production process and helping you find the best takes faster.
