Smart Homes
If the thought of controlling your home via your Smartphone sounds appealing, get ready for a fantastic selection of new apps heading our way in 2015. We’ve already seen the launch of apps designed to control heating and lighting in homes, however the new ‘home hubs’ will have the ability to control appliances, allowing you to put the kettle on before you even get out of bed or preheat the oven on the way home from work. Although these gadgets may be a long way from general high street sale, they were showcased at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show, a sign that they are definitely heading our way!

Pet Tracking
Every wondered what your pet gets up to as they explore the outside world? Another popular exhibit at the Consumer Electronics Show was the Tagg GPS, a device designed to attach to pet collars that can monitor location, air temperature and even activity levels to keep an eye on health and wellbeing. The app uses GPS tracking to provide owners with geofence alerts, ensuring that they know that their pet is safe and sound, sending text or email alerts when pets go outside of where they are supposed to be.

Baby Friendly
There are plenty of devices in the pipeline for parents looking for better ways to monitor their children’s health and safety. One idea that caused a stir at the show was a bracelet that vibrates to alert parents when their baby is crying during the night (if the noise wasn’t already enough!) the bracelet can also be programmed to alternate between parents to ensure that everything is kept fair and square. A new Smart Dummy has also been showcased, this Bluetooth enabled device created by tech company Blue Maestro is able to take a baby’s temperature using a Smartphone app, it can also be used to record how much medication is given to a child.

Wearable Cameras
It’s not enough to simply take a few snaps of your recent holiday to share with your friends, today you’re expected to immerse your audience in your experience with the help of a GoPro. These must have cameras have transformed how we document our adventures and in 2015 the GoPro revolution is set to continue, with rumours that the company are set to launch the first GoPro drones in March. The company are also set to release the GoPro ReFuel, a rechargeable battery that offers 12 hours of power, ideal when you’re on the go. Whether you’re documenting the daily commute or base jumping, these handy cameras are designed to capture every moment.

3D Food Printing
We’ve seen 3D printers take the world by storm, with seemingly no limits to what these devices can recreate. 2015 will be the year that the 3D printer takes on another challenge, the food industry. One printer was able to take a design imported via the internet and recreate it on a piece of food, perfect for cake decoration. For the more health conscious, XYZ Printing unveiled their Green Box which is able to grow organic lettuces and herbs in a matter of weeks.
